The fundamental objective of the government’s economic policy is to enable the
Hungarian economy to grow faster than the EU average and thus after reaching financial
balance to expand even more dynamically.
The expansion of employment is the indispensible condition for fast economic
growth, thus the main objective of the economic policy is to create a suitable
macroeconomic framework and also to channel the inactive workforce back to labour
market by job creation, labour incentives and qualification. Further key element
of a growth-oriented macroeconomic framework is the stable regulatory environment,
which avoids the overburden of economic actors. Therefore the government is aimed
at simplifying bureaucracy and easing administrative and tax burdens.
In addition to shaping adequate frameworks the government pursues an active development
policy in order to stimulate job-creation and investments which improve competitiveness.
Development programmes of national and EU funding and, as their consequence, expanding
infrastructure, corporate innovation and the promotion of supplier network-creation
are focused at increasing the competitiveness of national small and medium-sized
enterprises and attracting foreign direct investment.
The main task of the Ministry for National Development and Economy is to promote,
with the effective use of EU funds and the instruments of economic policy, the
development of an innovative, knowledge-based, growing economy of high added value
which is competitive in both the single European market and in a globalising world
economy.
