As a reaction to the spreading rumours about the Hungarian Development Bank and the role of the Hungarian Government, the Ministry for National Development and Economy emphasises that at this moment the Hungarian state does not grant credit either directly or indirectly, through the Hungarian Development Bank or other state organizations to Borsodchem, neither is it a joint owner of the company.

Ont he 29th of April 2009 István Varga was appointed for minister for the National Development and Economy of the Republic of Hungary. The new minister central focus is on stimulating economic recovery. His goal is to speed up  the use of the EU funds, to reduce the bureaucracy, to save Hungarian jobs and to restore confidence.
